Jakarta, 8 September 2026 — PT Santomo Biomass Indonesia participated in the Forestry Industry Session of the Sweden-Indonesia Sustainability Partnership (SISP) Conference 2026, held on Tuesday, 8 September 2026, at Park Hyatt Jakarta.
Held under the theme “Partnership for Sustainable Forest Development and Management,” the session was organized by the Embassy of Sweden in Jakarta and Team Sweden and brought together approximately 40 representatives from government, industry, academia, financial institutions, and forestry-related organizations from Indonesia and Sweden.
The session also marked the official launch of SISP Forestry, a new platform established to strengthen cooperation between Sweden and Indonesia in sustainable forestry development.
Strengthening Sweden–Indonesia Cooperation in Sustainable Forestry
Forestry plays an important role in Indonesia’s pathway toward achieving its Net Zero Emission 2060 target. A key component of this transition is the FOLU Net Sink 2030 initiative, which aims to strengthen the forestry and land-use sector while aligning environmental conservation with sustainable economic development.
At the same time, Sweden is internationally recognized for its experience and innovation in sustainable forestry, including forest management, productivity improvement, biomass utilization, technology, and value-chain efficiency.
Against this background, SISP Forestry aims to bring together companies, government authorities, academia, and industry organizations from both countries to facilitate technology exchange, capacity building, knowledge sharing, and constructive policy dialogue.
Focus on Biomass and Resilient Forest Management
One of the main sessions, “Driving Sustainable Forest Development through Biomass and Resilient Forest Management,” explored the opportunities and challenges surrounding sustainable biomass development and forest resilience.
The discussion brought together representatives from the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry, PLN EPI, Perhutani, Masyarakat Energi Biomassa Indonesia (MEBI), and Swedish companies including CellMark AB, SweTree Technologies, and INCA AB.
The panel highlighted the importance of developing sustainable biomass resources while maintaining responsible forest management and improving the resilience of Indonesia’s forestry sector.

Representatives from the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry and international companies including APRIL, Scania, Exte Fabriks AB, and Katam Technologies AB shared their perspectives on forestry logistics, transportation, inventory, and technology solutions.
Efficient and environmentally responsible logistics are increasingly important for the development of a competitive biomass and forestry industry. Improvements in transportation systems, forest inventory, digital technologies, and supply-chain efficiency can help reduce environmental impact while increasing operational productivity.
Opportunities for Future Collaboration
The event provided an opportunity for Indonesian and Swedish stakeholders to exchange perspectives on the key challenges facing Indonesia’s sustainable forestry transition and to identify potential areas for future cooperation.
