PT Santomo Biomass Indonesia (Head Office: Jakarta; President Director: Rumi Hoshino; hereinafter “SBI”), in collaboration with Padjajaran University (hereinafter “UNPAD”), organized a public lecture titled “Empowering Global Renewable Energy” on Monday, September 30, 2024. The event was held at the Vocational Building of UNPAD. The event was also attended by Rumi Hoshino, President Director, and Eko Wahyu Saputro, Business Development Manager of SBI, along with Nova Rachmadona, a lecturer from the Department of Chemistry at UNPAD.

The public lecture at UNPAD, organized in collaboration with SBI and attended by students from the Study Program of Chemical Industrial Technology, focused on the renewable energy sector, particularly biomass and biofuels. Additionally, SBI provided an in-depth explanation of the potential and market for biomass-biofuel, as well as the progress of joint research between SBI and UNPAD.

SBI-UNPAD also collaborates with such various related stakeholders as investors and business partners in supporting its business activities in the renewable energy sector, considering that this sector requires a fairly stable capital-intensive aspect. Moreover, the rising demand for biomass calls for energy diversification into other forms of biomass-biofuels to aid the energy transition.

Other than the technical material presented, SBI also explained the collaboration model, employment opportunities for graduates and alumni, and internship programs for students. SBI actively engages with the education sector, particularly universities, by collaborating on various initiatives program.

At the end of the presentation, students from the UNPAD Study Program of Chemical Industrial Technology actively engaged with the speakers by asking insightful questions related to the renewable energy sector. These critical questions sparked further discussion during the public lecture and provided additional insights and knowledge for the students.

It is hoped that the public lecture hosted by UNPAD in collaboration with SBI will offer students new understanding and knowledge, while also fostering long-term cooperation with UNPAD as a leading educational institution at the national level.
